The brainstorm workshop marks CHARTER’s first official programmed event, which took place on April 14th, 15th and 16th, 2021, exclusively for members of the project.

The workshop was hosted by the National Heritage Board of Latvia, full partner of the CHARTER Alliance. Due to the global pandemic, the event which was originally planned to take place in Riga was developed online. Under the title of “The future of the Cultural Heritage landscape”, partners were able to reflect, discuss and brainstorm about many different aspects of cultural heritage such as functions, competences, professions, terminology, and the quality requirements needed for the project.

Keynote speakers were a fundamental part of the gathering to inspire all the attendants in the brainstorming processes: Rūta Muktupāvela (Rector of Latvian Academy of Culture; Head of Latvian Rector Council; Head of Latvian National Culture Council), Erminia Sciacchitano (Minister’s Cabinet, Italian Ministry of Culture, Formerly Chief Scientific Advisor European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 at the European Commission – DG Education and Culture), Gerald Wagenhofer (INCREAS project leader) and Nicolae Postavaru (Vice President National Qualification Authority of Romania).

This event represents the first CHARTER step towards defining what practice in cultural heritage looks like.
