Alentejo Regional Workshop: “Traditions of cultural heritage” (25-26 October)

The Alentejo Regional Workshop, produced in the frame of CHARTER in REGIONS, will take place in Évora under the theme “Traditions of Cultural Heritage”. The event will be hosted by the region of Alentejo with the support of ADRAL, Fundação Eugénio de Almeida and IRRADIARE, on 25-26 October 2022.

The Alentejo region and the city of Évora have a unique tangible and intangible cultural heritage, where UNESCO has recognised so much of this treasured heritage and awarded protected status to many aspects. The vast regional cultural heritage ecosystem will be deeply involved in the co-creation and development of the workshop, where stakeholders will intervene in sessions and showcase their products during an exhibition of our intangible heritage.

Additionally, one of the main goals of the workshop is to involve youth. In this sense, students from regional schools and universities will be invited to participate in the event. This is crucial for the future sustainability of the professions and skills of cultural heritage, because there is a feeling that young adults do not choose this training and career path.

For this reason, the Alentejo Regional Workshop will focus on intangible cultural heritage and, at the same time, traditional skills. The results of the workshop will definitely be of interest for the local community, but will allow other regions all over Europe to gain better understanding of the challenges and get inspired by innovative approaches to tackle future skills shortages.
