CHARTER Alliance Webinar: How can heritage skills unlock the full potential of European regions?

Over the past three years (2021-2023), CHARTER Alliance has collaborated with six regions to deepen its understanding of diverse cultural heritage ecosystems: the Basque Country (Spain), Sibiu (Romania), Bremen (Germany), Alentejo (Portugal), Tuscany (Italy), and Västra Götaland (Sweden).

Six regional workshops were organised to gather insights and feedback from local stakeholders, centred around education and training (E&T) schemes, the identification of skills gaps and needsoccupational profiles, and sector dynamics. These case studies have provided CHARTER with a wealth of information that showcases the unique heritage specialties of each region. They also highlight a diverse array of approaches in responding to current trends and challenges such as sustainability, digitalization, and the circular economy; progress and challenges in aligning E&T with the labour market through updated curricula and a workforce equipped with future-ready skills and competences; the importance of recognition and certification of traditional heritage skills, especially in the realm of crafts; among many other facets.

The resulting tapestry is a fascinating compilation of diverse regional examples that complement one another and collectively contribute best practices and solutions to the development of a future Cultural Heritage Skills Strategy—an initiative for which CHARTER serves as a European blueprint.

The inaugural webinar of our CHARTER webinar series, organised in partnership with ENCATC and ERRIN, in the frame of ENCATC’s Members Talks cycle, is designed to highlight the impactful efforts of these six regions in preservinginnovating, and capitalising on cultural heritage through educationtraining, and regional cooperation. The webinar will showcase specific cultural heritage skills challenges faced by the regions and their best practices in E&T to tackle them. In this context, we will be introduced to conclusions and findings coming from the final report on regional learnings, to be issued later this month, featuring the full assessment and analysis of CHARTER’s regional cases.

Participants can look forward to gaining insights and on-the-ground information regarding crafts and traditional skills, industrial heritage, maritime heritage, digitalisation, volunteering, funding, intangible heritage, skills intelligence observatories, built heritage, and much more!

Join us next Friday 26 April from 14:00-15:30 (CEST)! Register here to receive the link to the meeting 24 hours before starting.
