The European Commission has released its draft annual budget proposal for 2025, which includes a €352 million allocation for the Creative Europe Programme aimed at supporting artists and creators across Europe. This amount marks a 5.2% increase from the previous year.

The budget breakdown includes €108 million for the Culture strand, €189.7 million for the Media strand, €29.3 million for the Cross-sectoral strand, and €25.2 million for support expenditures, including the relevant budget of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency.

To be adopted, the proposal requires approval from both the Council (comprising member states’ governments), which will establish its position by the 1st of October and the European Parliament, which has 42 days to respond following the Council’s decision.

Looking ahead, the financial programming for the final two years of the current Creative Europe iteration (2026-2027) shows an estimated budget of approximately €250 million each year. This is lower than in previous periods.
