The European Commission’s Artificial Intelligence Office has introduced two key initiatives for the cultural sector to influence the implementation of the AI Act.

First, a questionnaire has been launched to gather feedback on general-purpose AI models, focusing on transparency, copyright concerns, systemic risks, and the review of forthcoming codes of practice. This input will also assist in developing a template to summarize the sources used for training these AI models. Participants are encouraged to submit their responses and any supporting documents by 10 September 2024.

In addition, the AI Office is inviting stakeholders to help draft the first General-Purpose AI Code of Practice, which will guide AI providers in adhering to the new AI Act. Experts and organizations registered in the Transparency Register are eligible to apply to join the Plenary, which will convene online three times between September 2024 and April 2025 to draft the code. The application deadline is 25 August 2024.
